SURFACE MEMORY
canvas used to make paintings on public space surfaces 2009
acrylic on canvas, 80 x 60 cm / framed c-print, 30 x 40 cm

Abstract paintings created by pulling canvases soaked in paint over different surfaces in the streets.

The remaining canvas and the subsequent photo are both documentation. They are traces of an action that is comprehensible somewhere in between the physical remainder and the photo documentation.

The title “Surface Memory” is a reference to both the surface of the public space and the surface of the canvas. The surface of the canvas carry traces of the  action as well as of  the urban physicality: The wall, the paint and the movement.
