How can we discuss and understand the value of art in society in a new way? What knowledge is missing? Danish Arts Foundation, Art Council Norway and The Nordic Culture Fund hold a conference that will provide new insights and qualify future initiatives in art and social communities.
The conference will discuss and qualify research into in art and social communities as part of an initiative that will lead to a report to be published in the autumn. It will address the themes: the way art works and audiences, the art scene and communities, and art and the public. A series of lectures, debates and discussions will address various aspects of the relationship between art and social communities, including:
The cultural-political significance of art's social communities
Audiences in a globalised world
Artistic communities and new media
Art's audience and non-audience
Quantifying the value of the social communities that emerge around art
Art criticism and social communities
The conference is for people involved in research and art education and others with a relevant background in art and culture in the Nordic Region.
